Letter Before Proceedings

When Children’s Services decide they may ask the Court to make an Order to remove a child or children, there is normally a letter sent to the children’s parents beforehand to inform them of the threat of this course of action. It should set out the concerns of the Social Worker, and what you need to do to avoid Court action. There should be a meeting set up for you to meet with the Social Worker and those around your child (such as school teachers) to see if you can agree a plan to keep your children safe. If you receive a letter like this, you need to contact a family law solicitor immediately.
