Formerly known as “Access”, this is the action of children spending time with, or keeping in touch with parents or other family members. When children are looked after by the Local Authority, there is a duty for the LA to allow “reasonable contact”. This could be face-to-face, usually supervised and usually in a contact centre or in the community. The amount of time you can spend with the children depends on the circumstances and if you are in Proceedings. If it is not considered safe to have face to face contact with your children, it can be done over the phone, email, or by letter.
